Today is WFUV Giving Day!
WFUV Giving Day is a 24-hour push of support for our one-of-a-kind training programs, which include:
- 70-85 paid internships;
- Workshops for 120-150 students in news and sports multiplatform journalism, engineering, and production; and
- 40,000+ annual hours of training and public service.
WFUV Advisory Board co-chair, John Heller, will match all gifts, dollar-for-dollar, up to $2,500. Help us reach our goal of 50 donors!
About WFUV
WFUV (90.7 FM, wfuv.org), is Fordham University’s source for student training in the fields of broadcast journalism and music production. The young journalists at WFUV receive professional experience in the news and sports industries from field reporting to newscasting to podcasting. Students with interests in music production gain hands-on experience producing live broadcasts and in-studio artist sessions. The students shoot 125-150 FUV Live studio sessions per year and 25-40 off-site events, including marquee shows, music festivals, and other station events.
Participants and graduates of this hands-on education go on to win awards and internships, and pursue careers in all areas of broadcasting. Since 2010, alone, WFUV has won 183 national and local awards for news and sports. Student news stories are often highlighted on NPR’s All Things Considered and Morning Edition. The sports team are fully credentialed to cover all nine major NY sports teams, as well as many other major events.
