This year marks a monumental milestone for the William D. Walsh Family Library, as it has been one quarter of a century since the building first opened its doors in the Fall of 1997. Throughout the past 25 years, Walsh has been an oasis for countless students as a space to study, learn and gather with their peers. And what better way to commemorate this historic birthday of our beloved building than by launching a library-wide campaign – Walsh25?
Join us in commemorating Walsh's 25th "silver" anniversary through an array of celebrations planned throughout the Fall 2022 semester! There will be handouts of Walsh25 merchandise, such as bags, pens, and stickers, in addition to T-shirt giveaways promoted through the Libraries social media channels. Additionally, university librarians have worked to create a research guide featuring building secrets and history, detailed charts and graphs, and special photographs of Walsh Library throughout the years. Lastly, the East Reading Room, located on the Main Floor of Walsh is home to a new curated collection of periodicals, paintings, and blueprints dating back to the building of and grand debut of Walsh Library
If you would like to contribute a birthday gift to Walsh Library, it would be greatly appreciated. We are seeking a goal of $2,500 in honor of the building’s 25th birthday. This donation will allow the library to expand its resources and services for the entire Fordham community.
The Fourth Floor of Walsh Library is home to two Special Collections- the Rosenblatt Holocaust Collection and the Maurer Mystery Collection.
Within the past ten years, Walsh Library saw the most visitors in February 2016 (73,487!).
