The Center for Community Engaged Learning offers the Global Outreach program to students who have an interest in both service work and genuine cultural immersion. This Fordham University program promotes not only a discipline of giving back to the community, but also fostering connections in places possibly much different than where students come from. For a week students get to travel to participate in these activities and gain more than they give. GO! trips are extremely transformative for Fordham students and allow them to build team skills, cultivate leadership qualities, and much more.
In January, I will be leading a team to Puerto Rico where we will indulge in all this program has to offer. We will be partnering with Friends of Puerto Rico and plan to work on their farm. Along with this work we plan to participate in discourse regarding economic justice and advocacy. My team has already worked so hard to get this opportunity to go on this trip and we will continue working and planning to make this project as successful as can be. We hope you can kindly support us in any way you can, so my team and I can continue learning from amazing experiences like these.
