RAMILY,
Thank you so much for participating in this year's record-breaking #FordhamGivingDay! Over 450 donors contributed $350,000+ towards our Athletics programs. Your gift has a direct impact on our student-athletes. This was a team effort and we cannot thank you enough for your leadership, support, and loyalty.
We do want to again acknowledge two-time Olympic gold medalist, Tom Courtney, FCRH '55 and Bob O'Shea, GABELLI '87 for their generous double gold medal challenge. That was the largest challenge athletics has ever seen for a Giving Day campaign!
If you want to learn more about how to continue to support our athletics programs and other ongoing intiaitives, please contact Director of Athletics Development, Kara Field at kfield1@fordham.edu.
Thank you again and Go Rams!

Thomas Courtney, FCRH ’55, is recognized as the greatest track athlete to ever graduate from Fordham, having won two Olympic gold medals. You’ll be inspired by his incredible legacy. Check out Tom's Hall of Honor citation, this throwback piece about his performances in the 1956 Olympics, or this story from last year about Tom and some other, more recent alumni who earned Olympic medals as well. Tom truly exemplifies what it means to be a Ram.
In a recent meeting with Joseph M. McShane, S.J., president of Fordham, Tom gave a gift of $100,000 in support of Fordham’s track programs. This story was shared with a fellow track alumnus, Bob O’Shea, GABELLI ’87, who was so inspired by Tom’s generosity that he decided to match the gift.
Together, they have created the Thomas Courtney, FCRH ’55, Double Gold Medal Challenge: all gifts to the men’s or women’s track team will be matched THREE TIMES, up to $200,000!
➡️ If you give $100, they will give $300. Your total impact for Track is $400!
➡️ If you give $250, they will give $750. Your total impact for Track is $1,000!
➡️ If you give $500, they will give $1,500. Your total impact for Track is $2,000!
Help us meet this match. We deeply thank Tom and Posy Courtney and Bob O’Shea for their generosity in sponsoring this challenge.
