Swim & Dive

On October 16, 1925, Fordham University held try-outs for its inaugural swim team.

Led by head coach Ed McDonough and team captain Joe Farley, the Rams joined the Intercollegiate Swimming Association; and competed in three meets that season vs. Columbia, NYU and City College.

Now in its Centennial Year, and under the coaching leadership and guidance of Olympian Tom Wilkens (in his second year as head coach), the program has recently achieved some notable accomplishments; and is gaining notoriety and wide-spread attention throughout the sport.

Here is a quick snapshot of some highlights from these past 2 years:

• 21 School Records
• NCAA qualifier (2nd time in school history)
• A-10 Female Swimmer of the Year for 2 years in a row
• Fordham Female Athlete of the Year for 2 years in a row
• 2024 Olympian - Alex Shaw represented Nepal in the Paris Olympics and trained at Fordham for the Games where he broke his National Record in the 100 Free
• Dual Meet victories against an ACC team (Boston College)
• Men’s & Women’s teams were selected for the Team Scholar All-America Award by the College Swim Coaches Association.
• Improvements to the facility including new starting blocks, backstroke ledges, backstroke flags, & diving boards.
• Very strong Freshmen recruits as well as top notch Transfers (from Harvard, UNC Chapel Hill, Penn State, University of Illinois, etc.)

Our goal is to continue building upon our current success; and, in order to do so, we are looking to increase financial support from alumni and friends.

Fordham Swimming & Diving has established a fund-raising goal of $100,000 in its 100^th year; to help us elevate the program and support our amazing student-athletes.
