GO! Mexico 2027

Global Outreach (GO!) is a program at Fordham University which promotes engagement with the community on a wide range of social justice and environmental issues through immersion projects to places throughout the world that struggle with these issues. GO! enacts the Jesuit mission of Fordham through hands-on work, which helps students learn to be men and women for others, and practice commitment to service, fighting for human rights, solidarity, cultural exchange, and being global citizens. During the GO! formation and immersion process, students build community and learn about where they are going, the community they will be learning from, the work they will be doing, and why it is important.

The GO! Mexico project will travel to the Puebla region and work with Enlaces Comunitarios Internacionales (ECI). Our group will stay with and learn from families who are members of the ECI community. The team will be working on a sustainable farm, learning about sustainable agriculture, and the struggles sustainable farmers in the region face. We will also be visiting an immigration center to learn about and engage with how immigration issues affect those who live in the region. We hope to do meaningful work on the projects ECI is working on, and learn from them about the work they are doing, and the challenges they are facing.
